Requirements and Responsibilities For Loss Control Manager
Manages the loss control function to deliver risk assessment, loss prevention, and safety advisory services that support profitable underwriting, client retention, and overall portfolio performance. Develops and implements loss control programs, service standards, inspection protocols, and risk improvement strategies aligned with organizational objectives. Leads and develops a team of loss control supervisors and representatives by setting performance goals, providing coaching, and managing staffing, hiring, and training needs. Partners with underwriting leadership to align loss control services with account selection, pricing, and retention strategies. Oversees the development of technical resources, training materials, and industry-specific risk guides to enhance team capabilities and client value. Analyzes loss trends, inspection data, and emerging exposures to inform risk selection, recommend program enhancements, and drive continuous improvement in loss prevention outcomes. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. Manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1-3 years supervisory experience may be required. Extensive knowledge of the function and department processes.
